About
the Elbert School Branch Library
After the formation of the Elbert County Library District in 2000, various options
were investigated to bring library service to the town of Elbert. Sufficient
funding was not available to build or purchase a new branch, so a partnership
with the Elbert School was formed. The Elbert School Branch now shares
a space with the Elbert School Library, and opened its doors to the public
in the fall of 2004. It is one of only a handful of school/public libraries
throughout the state, and the collaboration has worked extremely well
to bring public library service to the town at a relatively low cost.
The Elbert School Branch is currently open to the public 15 hours a week.
